Thankfulness, Day Fourteen, Thanksgiving Day!

   Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

   Today I'm thankful for relationships.

I don't think I could live without relationships. Can you imagine waking up in the morning and not having anyone to say goodmorning to? Not seeing anyone at all before you start school? I love friends and family, and my life would stink without them.

And the best thing of all? God created humans for a relationship with him! He created ME to know HIM! That's (or should be) the reason I do anything and everything that I do.

God sent his Son to take my punishment for my sin, he didn't have to, but he did because he loved me so much. He died for me, an imperfect sinner. That's the thing I'm most thankful for; Christ loving me.

   Have a blessed holiday!

Thankfulness, Day thirteen

I'm thankful for cameras with which to take pictures.

I'm not the best photographer out there, but I'd like to think that I'm ok....

I like taking pictures of flowers, they're so wonderful to work with.

It's amazing the things that you can find on an early morning walk, the quality kind of got messed up when I transferred this one, but in the original you can see all the individual dew drops.

I think that I would love to be a portrait photographer. I love telling people what to do :) I think it would be an amazing job :)

I take some really- hmm, whats a nice way to say this... Artsy photos?  You know, the kind that are for fun, but have no real purpose? They're the best kind.

I'm so glad that God has gifted everyone with certain talent. I know at least two or three people who are ahhhh-mazing with their cameras, shout out to Matt and Haley. :)

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Thankfulness, Day Twelve

I could say that I'm thankful for books, and that would be good, but I think I'll narrow it down a little :)

I'm thankful for The Perilous Gard By Elizabeth Marie Pope.

The Perilous Gard takes place in England during the 1550s. Kate Sutton is a lady-in-waiting for Queen Elizabeth I of England when she is still a princess. Her sister, Alicia, inadvertently gets her exiled to a castle named Elvenwood Hall, also known as The Perilous Gard, where she finds that the daughter of Sir Geoffrey Heron, the master of the hall, vanished under mysterious circumstances that implicate his brother, Christopher Heron. She also finds that the local villagers fear the fairy folk who live under the hill and think they may be kidnapping children. Kate stumbles into the underground fairy world where she faces several challenges, which includes trying to save herself and Christopher.

This is amazing. I HIGHLY recommend it! If you don't like it... well then it's not my fault   ;)

I'm also very thankful that I'm able to read.

Thankfulness, Day eleven

I'm thankful for swing dance

I may not be very good at swing dancing, but I love dancing all the same :) Swing dance is one of the most energetic styles of dance out there, and it's the most fun ever!

Have you ever watched a swing dance competition?
One word-
AMAZING!!!

Thankfulness, Day Ten

I'm thankful for ice water.

There is nothing like an Oklahoma summer, not that it's the worst, but it can get pretty unbearable. In those Oklahoma summers there is nothing better than some ice water and a dip in the pool :)
I prefer a little flavor in my water, can you guess what kind of flavor?
I'll give you a hint...

Ready?

It's green...

 It's round...

 It's a LIME!

So, all of that to say that I'm thankful for ice water with lime :)

Thankfulness, Day nine

I'm thankful for hugs.

I love hugs. Sad hugs, happy hugs, pity hugs; you name 'em, I love 'em.

Everyone needs a hug every once in a while. I know I do.

Thankfulness, Day eight

I'm thankful for radios.

I love music. If I could choose some place to be in five to ten years, I would be standing on stage at the Grand Ol' Opry, singing with Keith Urban, Martina McBride, or Reba. And where can you hear them sing their songs all in a row? On the radio :)

Radios, For Your Entertainment :)

Tankfulness, Day Seven

I'm thankful for rain drops

I love walking in the rain, as long as it's not to cold. I love the way rain quiets everything but itself. It can be destructive, but we need it all the same. Nothing would grow, the ground would shrivel and crack.

This next thought isn't exactly theologically sound, but every once in a while it's fun to think that God puts tiny blessing particles in each drop; then when they have all landed they come together into one big blessing. A little crazy, but fun all the same :)

I would like to say that I thank God every time it rains, but as often as not, I probably complain about it messing up my hair or ruining my day.
But, at least for today, I'm very thankful for rain drops.

p.s.~ I took these pictures myself : ) Just so you know :)

Thankfulness, Day Six (Postponed)

I'm thankful for my Daddy.

Dad,
You are amazing.
I could stop there, because that pretty much sums it up, but I won't.
You  work so hard and long, with so many aggravating things, that you should be able to complain as much as you want, but you don't. You come home from work and get right to work; working on the house, car or whatever has fallen apart recently. You are always willing to help others, and you've taught me how to be a servant and put others before myself by your example.
You do so much for me that I will probably never know, thank you for being here to protect and lead me.
I'm so glad that God blessed me with you as my father.
I love and respect you so much!
Love,
Sandra

Thankfulness, Day Five (A little late)

I'm thankful for my Mom and her love.

Mom,
You are the most amazing woman in the world to me. You hold my hand when I need someone, lead me through my hard times, push me down the right paths when I don't want to go, but all the while I always KNOW that you love me. I am so blessed to know that whatever happens, where ever I go, you will love me.
You taught me how to read and write, you sat with me for hours when I was trying to learn how to diagram sentences (I'm still not sure I get it :)), you cared for me when I was sick. You helped me learn that no one is perfect, we are all sinful, but we become more like Him every single day. I thank God that He blessed me with such a mother like you.
I love you so much, so much that I can't really say just how much.
I love you more.
 And more.
Love,
Sandra

Thankfulness, Day Four (Delayed)

I'm thankful for colors.

"I do not like a mono-chromatic world, Sam I am, I do not like..." Ok, so that didn't work out as I thought it would :( Oh, well.

Color (or even the absence of) has a lot to do with my life. I mean, come on! I'm going to major in Art! (Lord willing)

I'm not sure what the world would be like without color, but there's a movie that I think pins it pretty good. It's called 'Pleasentville'. It's about a brother and sister (Toby McGuire and Reese Witherspoon) getting transported from the modern world into an old TV show where everything is perfect- as long as it's all in black and white.
Well, when Mcguire and Witherspoon start telling everyone about things outside of what everyone took for granted, people and places begin to change into color. The main point of the movie becomes 'everyone is different, there shouldn't be a cookie cutter that everyone is made from'.
All of that to say that color is a way to express ourselves. And we should express ourselves, not necessarily to the point of argument (I'm a little bit of a pacifist) but enough to be different from everyone else. God created each of us with different likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses.
Just because I can't do a million backspring-y things in a row(like one of my friends), knit up a storm(like another of my friends) or play the most complicated piano music in the world(yet again, like one of my friends) doesn't mean that He gave everyone else talent and skipped me.
He has blessed with every spiritual blessing from above so that we may bring Him glory, not ourselves. And I believe that God really is most glorified when we use all of our differences together.
Yes, I am very thankful for colors. :)

Think of something that needs color or variation, something that wouldn't be the same without it.

I think of music. What kind of world would we live in without different kinds of music? I like so many different kinds that I think I'd hate to live in a world with only classical, country, pop, or oldie music by themselves.

What about you?

Tankfulness, Day Three (Belated)

I'm thankful for guitar picks.

I don't think that I would enjoy playing my guitar near as much as I do if I didn't have guitar picks.

You can play guitar without picks, if you prefer, but it's not going to be as loud. And I like LOUD :)

I play guitar with some friends for our Sunday morning church service, and it's probably my favorite part of my week. I play with Luke (on guitar) Amy (on mandolin) Ashley (on flute) Kaley (on flute) and Hannah (on piano). I love being able to perform for an audience of one with them.

Thankfulness, Day Two (Tardy)

I'm thankful for fuzzy socks.

I don't know about you, but I wear fuzzy socks ALL the time in the winter when my toes are freezing.

I love my fuzzy socks. I really do.

Thankfullness, Day One

"Blog about one thing you're thankful for each day until Thanksgiving." I'm thankful for everything that God has placed in my life; from the house I live in to the fuzzy socks that I wear in the winter, but today

I'm thankful for pencils to write and draw with.

Have you ever thought what you would do without pencils?

How would you do school? How would you take messages from callers? How would you doodle on your homework? (I'm not the only one who doodles... right?)

I have been EXTREMELY blessed to have a pencil whenever I wanted to grab it.

There is no way that I could deserve anything good at all (I'm such a sinfully, fallen human) but thankfully, God doesn't make me work for his blessing. If he did, how would I even begin to try? His grace, love and mercy have given me everything that I have, and I am so very happy that he blessed me with pencils.

Favorite Actors?

If you know me, you probably know that I like to watch movies. And I really like actors and actresses, stage and screen.
 *GASP*
I'm not completely obsessed with them, thankfully, but this blog post might make it seem as if I were. So I'm just warning you ahead of time-
PLEASE DON'T THINK THAT I DON'T HAVE A LIFE!
Because I do have a life and I do care about other things, but I was running out of ideas. And my brain is partially fried from trying to figure out a pattern for my mother's kitchen back splash, so this is an easy option to blog about.
So here we go, some of my favorites, starting with actresses.

*Que Award Music*

Julie Andrews

Let me just start by saying that she is AMAZING!

She was the sweetest, most beautiful, firm Nanny... EVER!

My favorite roll that she ever play, and will ever play, is Fraulein Maria. She was quirky, brave, vulnerable, and just plain lovely. Ahhhhhh..... Not to mention her voice. OK, I'll mention it. Her voice is so beautiful and clear, that I think she could sing anything, anything at all!

Aishwarya Rai

She's amazing as well. She can dance, sing, and act! Triple threat! I also think she won Miss Universe 1994, and I don't think that would be easy!

I love Bollywood. I REALLY LOVE BOLLYWOOD! I love the colors, the music, the stories, and don't get me started on the costumes!

My favorite roll that I've seen her play is Lalita Bakshi (La-lee-tuh Bock-shee) in Bride and Prejudice. The character of Lizzy Benet in the retelling of the Pride and Prejudice story. She's been in a ton of other movies, I've only seen a few of them, but I love all that I have.

Jodie Foster

I absolutely adore watching her in movies! She's graceful and funny all the time!

I love the movie Candleshoe. Hands down! If you haven't seen it, you should!

And in Nim's Island? She's HILARIOUS!!! All that hand sanitizer! Definitely my favorite movie of hers.

Actors will come soon!

I didn't post last week because of school and work... imagine that :)  So I'm sorry that I'm late with this one, but it couldn't be helped.

Well I gotta go, laundry to do :) Talk to you later!
